Blue Lock is a Japanese manga series/ webcomic written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine which began in August 2018. Blue Lock is an ongoing series that as of now has 20 volumes.
The series is now getting animated by Eight Bit studio to premiere on 9 October 2022. Blue Lock is one of the most anticipated series by readers and fans. The world we see in the story is of ambitious, hard-working students working towards their goal to win the soccer World cup.
The story starts with the Japanese National Team failing in the World Cup 2018, after which the Japanese Football Union hires a coach who makes a hellish regime and program. Our protagonist, Isagi Youichi, gets an invite to this program and we see the journey of a team reaching their goal.

The story begins with the Japanese national team getting eliminated from the 2018 Fifa World Cup which leads the Japanese Football Union to start a program to scout high school students to train and prepare a team for the 2022 World Cup. To do so they hire Ego Jinpachi who introduces a radical new training regime.
Among many scouted high schoolers, our protagonist Isagi Youichi also receives the invite to this program. He is conflicted by his playing style and his greed for success after he loses a game-changer game after passing the goal to his not-so-skilled team-mate instead of making the goal himself. To get rid of this conflict and become the best soccer player in the world he decides to join the program. We see the young ambitious players working hard towards glory.
