Best Anime Like Chainsaw Man

After watching Chainsaw Man season 1 or Chainsaw Man manga, do you want to watch something exciting with lots of action and blood along with dark humor and comedy? Then you are in the right place. The following are the top 10 best anime like Chainsaw Man.

10. Akame Ga Kill

Akame Ga Kill

Akame Ga Kill follows a group of assassins as they overcome several challenges in order to complete their objective of overthrowing the corrupt government. While the show is quite somber compared to Chainsaw Man, you will find the violence and tragedy to be very similar. It does lack the artistic touch and subtlety which made Chainsaw Man stand out but it makes up for it with entertaining fights and likable characters.

9. Hell’s Paradise

Hell’s Paradise

Hell’s paradise revolves around a group of wanted men sent to investigate an island populated by an extremely dangerous species. The violent battles and emotional development of the characters will make you fall in love with this story. While the anime has not yet been released, this is one show you will not want to miss out on if you’re a fan of Chainsaw Man. With Mappa being the studio in charge of adapting them both, there are a lot of common features between the two such as a unique cast of characters as well as two extremely dark and cruel worlds.

8. Dororo

Dororo

Dororo is a fantasy anime where we’re told the story of Hyakkimaru, a child born without limbs, organs or facial features due to a pact made between his father and demons. We follow him on his journey as he goes in search of demons to defeat them and reclaim his body parts. The fantasy anime is filled with exhilarating fights and has its fair share of sorrowful moments.

7. Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan

Possibly being the most popular anime to come out in the last decade, Attack on Titan is nothing less than a masterpiece that shows us regular humans stand up to the terrifying titans who keep attacking them. The show eventually evolves into much more than just a violent battle between the two, as we see an extremely complex main character go through a brilliantly written character arc as well as it becoming a source of teaching us several valuable life lessons such as how there are different sides to every story as well as the qualities of bravery and perseverance.

6. Death Note

Death Note

It is nearly impossible to be a fan of anime and to not have heard of Death Note. The tremendously popular show follows Light Yagami as he happens upon a book with the power to kill any person whose name is written on it. While Light continuously uses this book while convincing himself that he’s doing this to build a better world, we see his ego growing which clouds his judgment to the point where “good for the world” coincides with what’s good for him. Death Note often has brutal conclusions to its characters and exposes the darker side of humanity.

5. Berserk

Berserk

While the anime falls short when compared to the manga which is known to be one of the greatest pieces of fiction of all time, Berserk is still a very interesting watch. It follows the devastating journey of Guts, an orphan who is forced to become a mercenary warrior, as he takes the hard journey of life and faces one tragedy after another through an extremely sad tale of betrayal, gore, and death. Berserk provides us with no illusion while presenting how hopeless the world is, and is the most valuable gem the dark fantasy genre has to offer.

4. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

In a pleasant surprise to everyone, Netflix, which is known to perform below expectations when it comes to anime released the highly-awaited Cyberpunk: Edgerunners which turned out to be a massive hit. With its eccentric characters and use of humor in contrast to the brutal world, the anime is an electrifying watch that has a tone and genre almost identical to Chainsaw Man. It tells the story of David, who becomes an outlaw in a city obsessed with body modifications using technology. He eventually joins a group of mercenaries to stay alive and becomes an edge runner.

3. Parasyte: The Maxim

Parasyte: The Maxim

Similar to how Denji is forced to make a contract with a devil in CSM, the protagonist of Parasyte is forced to live with an alien-like creature that attaches itself to his hand. Together, they decide to save humanity from monsters who are invading their world and feeding on humans. The show borders the horror genre with a lot of disturbing scenes and depressing moments.

2. Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul

While the anime does diverge from the manga and follows its own route, Tokyo Ghoul is still a good series to fill in the void left by Chainsaw Man once you’ve finished it. The series follows Kaneki as he turns into a half-human half-ghoul creature who struggles to fit into both worlds. As he has experiences on both sides of the fence, he realizes that co-existence through understanding is possible and ends up becoming a bridge between them. Tokyo Ghoul is an intense, thrilling, and violent ride filled to the brim with bittersweet moments.

1. Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen

Often debated alongside Chainsaw Man as being the best new-gen series, Jujutsu kaisen shares more than just a few similarities with its competitor. While Chainsaw Man has devil hunters who hunt devils born out of fear, Jujutsu kaisen has sorcerers hunting demons born from negative human emotions. Both have heavy use of humor as a counter to the extremely violent worlds they’re set in. While JJK characters do have more longevity, the series is still the closest thing you can find in case you’re missing CSM.
