One Piece Red is a Japanese anime action adventure fantasy movie based on the One Piece Series. It will be released in 2022. It was produced by Toei Animation and directed by Goro Taniguchi. It is the fifteenth movie installment to the long-running movie franchise of One Piece manga illustrated and written by Eiichiro Oda.

The movie was announced when the anime got its 1000th episode on 21st November, the poster and the teaser were released right after the broadcast of the 1000th episode. The world premiere of the movie was in Tokyo in Nippon Budokan on 22nd July and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the manga will be released theatrically in Japan on 6th August 2022. The movie is said to be based on the new female character, Uta.

Most famous and loved singer in the world, Uta. Preeminent for masking her identity while on the stage performing, her voice is said to be from another world. Now for the first time ever, she will reveal her true identity while performing live in a concert. As the space starts to get occupied with all her fans, energetic pirates, the navy keeping their eye closely on it, and Luffy with his Straw Hat are also present to enjoy her echoing performance the note that the entire world has been waiting for is about to echo. The tale starts with the startling truth that she is Red-Haired Shanks, daughter.

One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzak was directed by Goro Taniguchi and he has also directed OVA in 1998. One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzak was the first animated movie from the manga, it was produced by Production I.G. which was released before the animated show and had selected screenings in the theaters. Oda said that Goro was the first person to animate Luffy.  After the initial announcement in 2021 November, Goro wised that he wanted to illustrate One Piece in a way that has never been expressed before style and he will show that in One Piece Red.

As per Shinji Shimizu, staff of the animation house, Toei Animation of the movie One Piece Film: Red is the only movie in which Eiichiro Oda has participated the most. Eiichiro is the character designer, script reviewer, and also executive producer of the movie. He also mentioned that the movie will be very different from the past One Piece movies and will be a fusion of 2D and 3D but the main animation will be in 2D, and some scenes will be in 3D to make it more appealing and impactful.

The script was in discussion under Taniguchi, Tsutomu Kuroiwa, and Oda for more than the last two years. The script was praised by Oda and Kuroiwa who is the screenwriter stated that the One Piece Film: Red will be an amazing movie and will be liked by the audience all around the world.

Music

Shinjiadi is the movie’s theme song and is produced by Yasutaka Nakata and performed by Ado. Ado has also performed 6 more songs featuring Mrs. Green Apple, Fake Type, Motohiro Hata, Yuta Orisaka, Vaundy, and Hiroyuki Sawano. All these songs will be released by Toei Animation and Ado on Youtube.

Release

One Piece Film Red Release Date

On 22nd July the movie had its world premiere in Nippon Budokan and will be released in Japanese theaters on 6th August under Toei distribution. The IMAX screening will be in 27 theaters in Japan, which is the first time for any One Piece franchise movie. The movie will also be available in Dolby Atmos, 4DX, and MX4D.

While in France the movie will be released on 10th August by Pathe Films. In Taiwan, the movie will be released on the 19th of August. In Canada, the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia the movie is slated to release in 2022 fall by Crunchyroll. In Ireland and U.K., the movie will be released in 2022 fall by Anime Limited. Lastly in Singapore and India, the movie will be distributed by Odex.
