Grab your paraphernalia for the comeback of the Demon Lord to class, as “The Misfit of Demon King Academy” is all set to make a big return. Based on the same-named light novel series by author Shu, the work was formerly adapted into a manga adaptation before being brought to the world of anime in 2020 by the animation studio SILVER LINK. Now that the show’s second season has been confirmed, fans are more eager than ever for another serving of demon delights.

Although SILVER LINK hasn’t been particularly open about what Season 2 will contain, there have been a few recent events worth noting, especially surrounding the show’s casting, and the primary source may be able to reveal significant information about the series’ future plot. Following is what has been currently known about Season 2 of “The Misfit of Demon King Academy” in light of that. The official start of the second season was announced by SILVER LINK in March (via Crunchyroll).

Even a Japanese-only trailer was made available by the anime’s licensee, Aniplex USA, to anticipate the series’ future continuance. While the exact date for the premiere of “The Misfit of Demon King Academy ” Season 2 in 2022 is unknown, it is known that the anime will air as a split-cour season, according to Anime News Network. For those who are not aware of the cour system, this simply implies that to coincide with Japan’s programming schedule, there is going to be a long pause between the first and second halves of the season.

The Japanese voice cast has already undergone one significant change prior to Season 2. Yuichiro Umehara took over for Tatsuhisa Suzuki as the voice of “The Misfit of Demon King Academy’s” protagonist Anos in December 2021.

The Misfit of Demon King Academy Storyline

After 2,000 years of unending wars and turmoil, the demon king Anos Voldigoad agreed to give his own life in exchange for the human hero Kanon’s life in order for peace to prevail. When Anos reincarnates 2,000 years later, he discovers that the society has changed, with royal demons now cruelly ruling over lower-class hybrid demons in a culture that places more value on Anos’s pureblood ancestors than on the demons who interbred with humans and spirits. Anos, now a hybrid himself, aspires to reclaim his former position of Demon King, but first, he must graduate from the Demon King Academy, where he is deemed a total misfit.
