12. Wise Man’s Grandchild

Wise Man’s Grandchild

Wise Man’s Grandchild is a fascinating series that follows Shin, an orphan who had a unique upbringing. As the titular grandchild, Shin was raised by an extremely renowned individual named Merlin who was known for his power.

Wanting to live a new life, Merlin stepped away from the limelight and spent his later years raising Shin. Due to this, Shin ended up becoming a very talented person with a high aptitude for combat.

At the same time, he was also left without contact with society and was very naive about the world. To change this, we watch Shin joining a Magic Academy as he finally gets to spend time around his peers.

Through this he has the opportunity to make friends, find romantic interests and even battle powerful enemies. The exciting magic, school setting and powerful protagonist make this series similar to The Eminence in Shadow.

11. Spy Classroom

Spy Classroom

In a world where spies and espionage are common, Spy Classroom starts by introducing us to a girl named Lily who is struggling in her academics. Despite desperately wanting to do well and become a spy, she becomes disheartened by her performance.

Her life completely changes when she is given the opportunity to join a spy group to carry out an operation. Led by a man named Klaus, this group features several other girls as well who are distinctive in their own ways.

Despite having very limited experience, our characters also soon find that the mission they are tasked with is extremely difficult and they will have to get the hang of the spy world very quickly to stand a chance at success.

Spy Classroom is a heavily action-oriented plot where a “harem” of girls complete missions while serving a cool man on top, which is not different from The Eminence in Shadow.

The Irregular at Magic High School

The Irregular at Magic High School presents a very unique take on magic and is set in a world where magic is taught as a course in a technical manner. The series introduces us to the siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba as they enroll into an academy that fosters magicians.

While Miyuki shows high proficiency in magic, Tatsuya is deemed to be inept at it and is placed in an inferior class where he is looked down upon. We soon find out that Tatsuya is anything but unskilled, however, as he displays great talent in various other aspects of combat and even has extraordinary technical skills.

Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online is one of the most popular anime ever created and has transformed the industry for better or worse. It follows several people who play a new virtual reality game that immerses them into its expansive world.

With fantasy and their wildest dreams coming true, they are able to experience various impossible feats in the game. Things quickly take a turn for the worse, as it is revealed that every user is trapped in the game and the only way to escape is to beat the game itself.

5. Am I Actually the Strongest?

Am I Actually The Strongest?

Am I Actually the Strongest is an anime that is extremely similar to The Eminence in Shadow and one which shares several common elements.

It follows a shut-in boy who is transported to another world where he is blessed with extreme power. However, due to a mistake in measurement, everyone thinks of him as weak. The protagonist, Haruto, has no problem with this situation and would rather not get dragged into any tiresome tasks.

Life has other plans for him, as an evil plot in his kingdom will compromise the safety of all his loved ones.

Just like the Eminence in Shadow, Haruto has a dedicated group of supporters who end up dragging him into using his powers despite his wish to not stand out.
