Record of Ragnarok

“Record of Ragnarok” is a Japanese manga series titled “Shūmatsu no Warukyūre” in Japanese. It is written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui. The manga is set in a world where the fate of humanity is at stake, and it centers around a grand tournament called Ragnarok. The story follows a group of chosen humans known as the Einherjar, who are granted powerful weapons by valkyries to battle against gods from different mythologies.

The manga first bega its serialization in November 2017 in Monthly Comic Zenon, a seinen manga magazine. The series has gained significant popularity both in Japan and internationally due to its unique concept and intense battles between humans and gods.

In addition to the manga, “Record of Ragnarok” has been adapted into an original net animation (ONA) produced by Warner Bros. Japan and animated by Graphinica. The anime series premiered on Netflix in June 2021.

Record of Ragnarok Plot

The plot of “Record of Ragnarok” revolves around a monumental event known as Ragnarok, where the fate of humanity is determined through a series of battles between gods and chosen human representatives.

The story begins with the Gods’ Council, a gathering of divine beings from various mythologies, who decide that humanity’s history of 7 million years is irredeemable and warrants their extinction.

However, Brunhilde, the leader of the valkyries, proposes a final chance for humanity to prove their worth. She suggests holding a tournament called Ragnarok, in which humanity will face off against the gods in thirteen battles. If humanity can win seven of these battles, they will be spared from annihilation.

To represent humanity, thirteen notable individuals from different points in history are chosen as the Einherjar. Each Einherjar is granted a powerful weapon known as a “Volund” by their respective valkyrie. These Volunds are tailored to their fighting style and grant them extraordinary abilities.

Throughout the tournament, readers are introduced to a diverse cast of characters, including gods from various mythologies and historical figures from different eras. Battles take place between gods like Thor, Zeus, Poseidon, Shiva, and many others, against human warriors like Lu Bu, Adam, Kojiro Sasaki, and Jack the Ripper, among others. Gods:
