Everyone wishes for their favorite shows to get sequels and franchises which explore deeper into the world while delivering a satisfying conclusion. While many anime are fortunate enough to get multiple seasons, there are also a heart-breaking number of anime that have been canceled or discontinued.
This is not always because of the poor quality of storytelling but is due to declining viewership, scheduling conflicts, or monetary issues a majority of the time. While fans might get discouraged due to not having an enjoyable end to a series they get interested in, it is still worth giving a shot.

10. High School of the Dead
High School of the Dead was rapidly growing in popularity by being one of the most fun experiences an anime fan could have. It followed a group of unique characters who were all stuck in a high school when a zombie outbreak started.
With each of them having skills that would prove useful in the survival effort, we watch as they fight together and form a bond through mutual understanding. With its exhilarating action, ecchi scenes, and gore, it was an instant hit.
However, much to the disappointment of everyone, the series never had a conclusion and was stopped in its tracks after the tragic passing of its writer. Despite this, the single anime season and OVA which are released are definitely worth a watch.
9. ReLife
ReLife follows the life of a man named Arata who is extremely dissatisfied with his work and personal life while living every day with no source of joy. This changes when he gets the opportunity to travel back to his younger self and live life as a high school student. This was done as part of an experiment while allowing him to fix his past mistakes.
While he was in disbelief at first, he soon gets accustomed to his new surroundings and makes new friends while watching them all deal with their struggles. With his previous experience, he works towards helping them while learning a lot himself. Based on a Webtton, ReLife is an amazing slice-of-life story filled with a bittersweet romance.
While the first season did a great job at adapting the source, many were let down when the anime tried to rush and conclude the story with a four-episode OVA rather than taking the time to deliver quality content to fans.
8. Prison School
Prison School is an outrageous anime that tells the story of its group of main characters who are thrown in prison after trying to peep into the girls’ bath. With the jailers being the student council members, they find new methods of torture for the prisoners while trying to break their trust and friendship in each other.
These provocative and hilarious scenes leave us in tears from laughing as the anime keeps setting new standards for comedy. Surprisingly, after its first season which came out over 7 years ago, there has been no news of a second season though the entire story in the manga has been completed.
While the chances of the series continuing are slim, it is never zero as there have been several other anime that have come from even longer breaks.
7. Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Magi is an extremely underrated fantasy tale based on the Arabian Nights. The story introduces us to a young boy named Aladdin who has the ability to call upon a supernatural being known as a Djinn who is extremely powerful.
After striking a friendship with a young man named Ali Baba, the two of them decide to go and explore a dungeon that had never been conquered before. With enemies on their tails, they face a variety of obstacles before achieving their objectives. From this point on, their lives completely change as they are transported to different parts of the world and have several different experiences while meeting many people. Magi is an exciting adventure that has us invested throughout.
The animation and character designs are visually stunning and all cast members are loveable. Unfortunately, after a second season and a spin-off series that did not conclude the entire manga storyline, there has been no news as to whether the series continuing.
6. Deadman Wonderland
Deadman Wonderland is a thrilling story that follows a young boy named Ganta who is framed for the murder of his classmates and put in an infamous prison known for its dangerous inmates.
He soon finds out that he is slowly developing supernatural abilities which he uses to survive while looking to clear his name and escape. While the horror and high-stakes nature of the series is definitely commendable, the anime strayed too far from the original source material while leaving out several important plot points and crucial characters which resulted in it being canceled.
5. The Promised Neverland
The first season of The Promised Neverland is one of the best anime to ever come out. It tells the stories of a group of orphans who live happily together with the one rule being that they do not stray far from the orphanage.
Our trio of main characters, however, suspect that things may not be as bright as they seem and while following a friend who had been adopted, they find out a dark and hideous secret about the world they live in and their purpose. With its exhilarating twists and smart characters who devise ingenious plans to escape and survive, it was no surprise that the series was so loved.
However, the second season took a major turn for the worse as it was completely rushed for the sake of pacing with entire story arcs being skipped. This caused the downfall of an anime that was anticipated to be one of the greats.
4. Noragami
Noragami is a very creative anime that has a plot inspired by mythology while adding enough on its own to be original. It introduces us to a minor god named Yato who dreams of having several worshippers throughout the world.
While completing daily tasks for people who wish for something from him, he has a coincidental meeting with a young girl who ends up separating her soul from her body. The two of them soon grow close while forming a partnership. She soon understands the complexities of the god world and that Yato’s carefree personality might be masking something deeper.
However, since the anime did not help much in bringing popularity to the manga, a succeeding season is yet to be renewed.
3. No Game No Life
No Game No Life is one of the best and most intense Isekai stories one can experience. It tells the story of a brother and sister who are transported to a world where everything is decided through games.
Being extremely competitive themselves, they use their wits and cunning to soon get whatever they desire. After running into the exiled princess of the kingdom of humanity, they come up with the new goal of ruling the entire world which will take them defeating several species and creatures who all have unparalleled intelligence.
The anime is filled with stunning animation while having fans gripped through every episode. After the Author got accused of plagiarizing, however, chances of a Season 2 became very low.
2. Gantz
Gantz is an extremely mature and electrifying series that gives us an interesting take on life after death. We are introduced to a young boy named Kei Kurono who has an untimely death after getting hit by a train. To his surprise, he finds himself in a room with several other people who had just died and a mysterious ball.
He is soon told by the ball that he is required to kill aliens, monsters, and all kinds of supernatural creatures for a chance to survive and live his life again. Through this, we are taken on a high-octane and brutal journey of action and tragedy.
Sadly, the anime eventually drops in quality as it cuts several important portions and goes in an original route which leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
1. Slam Dunk
Slam Dunk is one of the greatest and most beloved sports anime ever. It takes on a journey through the life of a delinquent named Hanamichi Sakuragi who is taken into the world of basketball while trying to impress a girl.
While he is initially hesitant, Hanamichi quickly gets inspired by the persistence and determination of the basketball team as they worked together to win.
This pushed him to work hard himself and beat strong opponents with his friends. Alas, the series was cut short while not being given a chance to adapt the final part which had some of the most thrilling matches.
