To his surprise, he is reborn as Cid Kagenou in a world filled with magic. Being overjoyed at the fact that he can finally acquire the power he always wanted, he establishes a group named Shadow Garden which works in secrecy to defeat enemies who threaten society.
While the premise might seem very serious at first glance, The Eminence in Shadow puts a comedic twist on it by giving Cid a very delusional personality that makes up crazy stories and scenarios to give Shadow Garden a purpose.
Due to amazing coincidences, however, his delusions keep becoming real and he ends up having to face new opponents and enemies repeatedly.

The Eminence in Shadow anime directly adapts the source from the light novel. Currently, the novel has 6 volumes and the second season of the anime is believed to adapt till half of the 4th volume.
