Chainsaw Man tells the story of Denji, a young boy who struggles to make his way through life through a debt that was passed on to him by his deceased father. The world of Chainsaw Man is filled with existences known as Devils who prey on people’s fears and are the cause of the tragedy.
While this might seem like a hopeless situation for any human to live in, they are allowed to form contracts with Devils where they exchange something the Devil might find valuable in exchange for otherworldly powers which might help them complete their objectives. To repay his debt, Denji uses the help of a Devil with a dog-like appearance and the abilities of a Chainsaw, named Pochita to complete odd jobs and kill other devils for the Yakuza using its Chainsaw powers.
He finally seems to be adjusting to his less than satisfactory life till tragedy strikes again and he’s betrayed by the Yakuza and killed by the Zombie Devil. This leads to Pochita sacrificing himself to save Denji which causes him to become a hybrid of a Devil and Human who can use the Chainsaw Powers by transforming his own body. Impressed by his powers as a “Chainsaw Man”, he’s recruited by the Public Safety Devil Hunters, an organization dedicated to hunting Devils who could become a threat to the human world.
This breaks Denji’s glass ceiling and leads him to learn a lot more about the world, form new connections and friendships, and go through a variety of experiences while killing a plethora of devils and working alongside fellow Hunters who all have their unique personalities. Chainsaw Man is an exhilarating story filled with violence, gore, and tragedy and retains your attention for the entire span of its duration while keeping you at the edge of your seat.
